    Manufacturing Process of Tantalum Metals

Tantalum is separated by treating the ore with a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid at high temperatures, which dissolves both metals into complex fluorides.

The resulting slurry is filtered and further processed through solvent extraction or liquid ion exchange using specific chemicals like methyl isobutyl ketone or amine extractants, producing a highly purified tantalum solution.

The purified tantalum solution is then converted into tantalum oxide (Ta₂O₅) or potassium tantalum fluoride (K₂TaF₇), depending on the desired product.

Finally, the tantalum compound undergoes an electrolytic or chemical reduction process to produce pure tantalum metal.
